Although silverfish are not pleasant to look at they aren't dangerous to humans or pets directly. They are, however, dangerous to your things. They eat starchy things like sugar, flour, paper even hair and dandruff.
How to Prevent Silverfish
When trying to prevent silverfish in a house, keep the humidity relatively low. Silverfish thrive and breed in damp locations, and a dehumidifier can help prevent them from wanting to take up residence in the house. In a house without a basement, place the dehumidifier in the dampest location. If space allows, place it in a bathroom. It will work to continually pull moisture from the air and help prevent wayward silverfish from wanting to take up residence in crevices under sinks, beneath carpeting, and other damp locations where they can dine on adhesive, paper, fabric, and starch.
